"You just have to peddle. Don't think about it - just push off, put your feet up, and just go for it. You can do this!"
"But mom, I don't know what will happen. I'm nervous."
"You don't have to worry, sweet girl. Mommy's right here."
The words rang in my ears - a little differently than I'd said them, but loud and clear I heard, "You don't have to worry, sweet girl, Father God is right here."
eAs I've been preparing to launch this site, I've spent countless hours learning new things. How to build a business. How to design a website. How to use different servers and applications. It's been a steep curve that for the most part has been exhilarating!
But today, this final day before I officially 'launch' this blog and site, the exhilaration has waned into something more akin to terror. I don't know what will happen. I'm nervous.
This afternoon, I returned to the computer to finish up some work while John took the kids out to play. I hit (yet another) snag, and began to second guess why I was working so hard towards something so vulnerable and risky. Feeling defeated, I put on a pot of coffee and wandered out to the patio where our sweet girl was practicing on her bike. She has the riding part just about mastered - it's the getting started on her own that's giving her trouble.
It's just a brief moment --- that moment where she has to take both feet off the ground and just go for it. I know she can. John knows she can. She's second guessing why she's working towards something risky. But she's excited about the possibilities. She's ready to see where she can go once she gets started. And knowing that we are there with her gives her the confidence she needs to keep trying. Any day now I'm certain she'll be cruising around, every fleeting fear far behind her!
God so often uses moments with our children to show us His heart. Today was just a brief moment --- that moment where I had to just go for it. I'm grateful we serve a God who invites us to do things that are exciting and full of possibilities. It's freeing to know we can find our confidence in His presence. And that as we set our eyes on Him, we can leave every fleeting fear far behind us.
Here you will find the musings of a homeschooling, work from home, adoptive Momma of 6! Adventures in faith, family, adoption, and training up a tribe of little people to follow hard after Jesus are spilled into these posts --- most often written with a cup of coffee in hand. I hope you'll stick around a while and find something - more likely SOMEONE! - that brings you hope!
