Friends, when I posted about updates and upcoming events back in April, I was excited about the coming weeks! There was so much I intended to accomplish and overcome! And then, as is often the case, life happened.
We had a delightful visit with my husband's family, who had flown in from MN for 5 days! We explored the beach and a park, spent a morning at a huge playground, and went swimming several times.
The day after everyone headed back north, our son had his overnight EEG. Overnight, he spiked a high fever, which caused me (unnecessary) alarm. Turns out, it was the onset of the flu. A flu which was passed around our home for about 2 weeks. Everyone seemed to be bouncing back, but I still felt pretty terrible.
One morning, I noticed one pupil was larger than the other. I googled potential causes and immediately regretted my decision to do so! Convinced something was terribly wrong, I drove myself to urgent care. The doctor laughed a bit at my prognosis of potential life-threatening causes.... but then, to my dismay, he told me he'd never seen anything like it, and instructed me to see an ophthalmologist immediately.
Several hours later, I was relieved to learn the cause was the cold medicine I'd been chugging down. With six sick children to take care of, I had no time to be sick - let alone rest!
My plan ultimately back fired, because though my eyes were fine, the urgent care doctor informed me I had bronchitis. I had an allergic reaction to the antibiotics initially prescribed, and when consulting a second doctor, decided to wait it out with plenty of fluids and rest. My husband was awesome, as usual, and I did rest... sort of.
A week later, one of the glands in my throat became infected. The pain in my ear was tremendous and I could feel the swelling every time I swallowed. So, I began another round of antibiotics, praying this would be the end of feeling sick and tired.
Unfortunately, just as I was beginning to feel better, the little people I share a home and breathing air with picked up another viral upper respiratory infection that they were gracious enough to share.
So, it may have been sheer desperation - but it was also after much prayer! - that I decided to try something. Something a good friend of mine was kind enough to share with me. Something that I am praying will change the trajectory of health and healing in our home!
Between the eight of us, we have a number of medical and behavioral diagnoses - ADHD, asthma, FPIES, IBS, reflux, seasonal allergies, SPD - just to name a few! Some severe, some just unpleasant: all unwelcome. We are going to seriously put this company and their products to the test. I will be charting how each of us responds, and determining if it benefits our health substantially, or if we will utilize their 60 day money back guarantee!
So, as I'm still recovering, I'm also researching. I'm sick and tired of feeling sick and tired - and of watching our family battle things our bodies were created by God to fight on their own! We are huge believers in the power of prayer - and in God's ability and willingness to bring healing! And we have seen how many times His healing is a process of restoring our bodies. What a tremendous thing to realize we can better equip our bodies for the fight, so that they can heal the way He created them to!
I am still pursuing all the upcoming projects I mentioned before! I am looking forward to getting back to blogging on a regular basis, and sharing with you all about our journey to health and wholeness - body, mind, soul, and spirit!
